Opening Party at Te Papa

Come to a pick-your-own path evening at Te Papa’s new Toi Art galleries, led by Aotearoa’s most exciting Asian artists. Join us for a festive evening of conversation and entertainment that celebrates Aotearoa’s rich Asian arts and culture – dance, talk, sing.

Seek wisdom at the fortune cookie cart, or visit the mood machine to receive art and poetry based on your feelings. These attractions are debuting in Wellington for the first time, fresh from Auckland’s Satellites – a series of events, exhibitions, and encounters showcasing the city’s most exciting contemporary artists.

As the evening unfolds, dig deep for a storytelling workshop, or pair up with a friend for a karaoke duet.

You can also take part in quick-fire discussions with leading artists and thinkers, including:

-poet, playwright, and paediatrician Renee Liang
-performer and theatre-maker Alice Canton
-writer, editor, and director of Satellites, Rosabel Tan
-curators Vera Mey and Balamohan Shingade.

Te Papa and Massey University have collaborated to bring you this free opening event for the symposium of the 2018 Asian Aotearoa Arts Hui.

Everyone’s welcome to the opening night party – it's free!
